When the American Rob visits London and accidentally impregnates Sharon during a one-night stand, the pair end up building a life together over the course of four seasons, including two children and a home in England. But things for the combative, verbally witty couple are always complicated, whether it's because of Rob falling off the wagon or Sharon's often socially awkward, caustic behavior.

With the help of their similarly dysfunctional friends, the two of them stay one step ahead of total disaster.

The show was heavily praised by critics; when the last episodes aired in 2019, Amy Anatangelo of Paste Magazine wrote, "As it ends its four-season run, Catastrophe is as sharp, as biting, as witty as ever.
