Tulip tree for sale ukHow to Grow and Care for a Tulip Tree
Tulip trees (Liriodendron tulipifera) are fall-foliage stars that get their name from the resemblance their flowers bear to the classic tulip flower. Native to eastern North America and the state tree of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana, deciduous tulip trees or yellow poplars grow extremely tall and straight with narrow crowns that spread with age to make ideal shade trees.
These easy-care, fast-growing trees are easily identified by their spring flowers and showy leaf shapes. The tree is well-liked in a yard for its brilliant fall color display and because it attracts bees, hummingbirds, swallowtail butterflies, and other pollinators.
The tulip tree's flowers are yellowish-green, with a touch of orange on the outside. The smooth green leaves are broadly lobed and turn vivid golden yellow in fall.
